Faculty of Engineering Welcomes International Scholars from France to Advance Robotics Research

Bangkok, Thailand — The Faculty of Engineering at King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) is thrilled to announce the arrival of two visiting international scholars, Mr. Tom Abdré Jacky Hurard and Mr. Thomas Noirot, both joining our vibrant academic community from France.

Representing Université de Toulon and Clermont Auvergne INP respectively, both scholars will be undertaking comprehensive exchange programs with us through the summer and early fall of 2026.

Driving Innovation in Production and Robotics Engineering

During their time at KMUTNB, both interns will be integrated into the Department of Production and Robotics Engineering. Utilizing our state-of-the-art facilities, they will work alongside our esteemed faculty to push the boundaries of automation and robotic technologies:

  • Mr. Tom Abdré Jacky Hurard (Université de Toulon) Internship Period: May 5, 2026 – August 28, 2026 Under the expert supervision of Asst. Prof. Amornphun Phunopas, Mr. Hurard will focus on the design and development of an autonomous mobile robot. His critical research aims to engineer systems capable of navigating and operating effectively across a variety of complex, real-world scenarios.

  • Mr. Thomas Noirot (Clermont Auvergne INP) Internship Period: May 18, 2026 – September 25, 2026 Working under the dedicated supervision of Asst. Prof. Aran Blattler, Mr. Noirot’s research will center on the development of a machine learning-based automated bin-picking system. This highly technical project will utilize a robotic arm manipulator paired with advanced RGBD (Red, Green, Blue, Depth) sensing technology to optimize automated industrial processes.

Strengthening Global Academic Ties

Hosting these talented scholars from two distinguished French engineering institutions further cements KMUTNB’s reputation as a hub for international collaboration and cutting-edge robotics research.

We encourage all faculty members, staff, and students to extend a warm KMUTNB welcome to Tom and Thomas as they collaborate with our teams and experience the rich cultural and academic life here in Thailand.

Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering!
