Yokohama National University Professors Visit KMUTNB to Discuss MEXT Scholarship and Advanced Materials Research

Bangkok – On Monday, December 15, 2025, the Department of Materials and Production Technology Engineering welcomed distinguished representatives from Yokohama National University (YNU), Japan, for an insightful seminar regarding international scholarship opportunities and advanced engineering research.

The event featured Prof. Dr. Makoto Hasegawa and Asst. Prof. Dr. Pramote Thirathipviwat from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, and Ocean Engineering at YNU. The professors shared their expertise on the topic: “Advancements in high-temperature protective coatings for Ni-base superalloys and ceramic matrix composites.”

Highlighting the MEXT 2026 Scholarship

Beyond the technical lecture, the primary focus of the visit was to promote the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for 2026. The professors provided detailed information regarding the University Recommendation track for Master’s and Doctoral programs.

Key highlights of the session included:

  • Scholarship Availability: Details on the 1–2 seats available for high-potential candidates.

  • Research Integration: How prospective students can join cutting-edge projects involving high-temperature coatings.

  • Academic Life in Japan: Insights into the research environment and culture at Yokohama National University.

Active Student Participation

The seminar, held at the Vichitwathi Meeting Room (Building 81), saw a strong turnout. A large group of 3rd-year students from the Department of Materials and Production Technology Engineering, along with interested seniors and graduate students, attended the session. The atmosphere was highly engaging, with students participating in a Q&A session to learn more about the application process and life abroad.

This collaboration continues to strengthen the academic ties between KMUTNB and leading Japanese institutions, opening doors for Thai engineering students to pursue world-class education and research.
