University of Twente’s Mechanical Engineering Delegation Visits KMUTNB for Industry 4.0 Research

On November 26, 2024, a group of 30 students with Master’s degrees of Mechanical Engineering and two professors from the University of Twente (UT), Netherlands, visited the Faculty of Engineering at King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) as part of their research on Industry 4.0. This initiative aimed to explore cultural and technological perspectives related to the advanced industrial framework, offering students valuable insights for their ongoing research.

The visit began with a warm welcome by Asst. Prof. Dr.Tanaporn Rojhirunsakool, Assistant Dean for International Affairs and Public Relations, and Prof. Dr. Prof. Athakorn Kengpol from Industrial Engineering at the ENG Learning Space I followed by an engaging introduction to the faculty’s academic and research capabilities. Prof. Dr. Prof. Athakorn Kengpol presented his work on MSIE 4.0 curriculum and ReCap 4.0, which is a competence development project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Program for enhancing the capacity and ability of local universities in Thailand to effectively deliver modern engineering & technology knowledge and skills.  The University of Twente delegation presented their focus on Industry 4.0, sharing their experiences and objectives.

To deepen their understanding, the participants toured key departments, including the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Production and Robotics Engineering. These visits showcased cutting-edge projects, modern laboratories, and innovative research practices that highlight Thailand’s contributions to Industry 4.0 advancements.

The interactive Q&A session allowed participants to exchange ideas and gain nuanced perspectives on cultural and institutional approaches to industrial transformation. This was followed by a networking lunch, fostering connections and potential collaboration opportunities between the two institutions.

The University of Twente’s focus on exploring cultural dimensions of Industry 4.0 through institutional visits underscores the global relevance of this research. KMUTNB’s participation in this initiative exemplifies its dedication to promoting cross-cultural understanding and advancing engineering education and research.
