20-26 October 2019, ten of selected students and one supervisor from Faculty of Engineering, KMUTNB (International Program in Innovative Materials Engineering (I-IME), Department of Materials and Production Technology Engineering (MPTE), were invited to visit The University of Electro-communications, Tokyo, Japan (UEC) for an academic and cultural exchange, supported by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), based on an academic and student exchange agreement between KMUTNB and UEC signed on 28th February 2018.
On 23rd October, I-IME students had an honorary opportunity to pay a courtesy visit to Mr.Hagiuda Koichi, the Minister of Education Culture Sports Science and Technology (MEXT) to commemorate the 30,000th students visit to Japan by the Sakura Science Program. During the exchange program, they visited laboratories at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Intelligent Systems at UEC, where Prof. Kuboki, Prof. Morishige, Prof. Kajikawa and their Japanese supervising students introduced the on-going research.
I-IME students also joined a Symposium on Advanced Materials Processing and Production Technology held at UEC. In this symposium, I-IME students had presented 7 topics of senior project conducted at KMUTNB and 7 UEC students also had presented their research topics so that students and professors from both universities could exchange, discuss and share the idea on their study. Furthermore, I-IME students had experienced Japanese life and culture through a cultural exchange with Japanese students, including Japanese language class, Aikido sport club attendance, an excursion to the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan) and Chiba Institute of Technology Tokyo Skytree Campus.
